Timestamp events.  This only makes a time stamp in the channel/query or DCC Chat windows. To enable logging the timestamps you must do so in the Logs&Ignore section.

Example 5.1. Logging

[01:27:41] <@[SQ]werl> this is just a test for the savIRC documentation

Show Server Pings.  This will tell you when the server pings you.

Example 5.2. Server Pings

Ping request from sanjose.ca.us.undernet.org... PONG!

Popup messagebox on invite.  This will popup a window, telling you who is inviting you to what channel, and if you want to accept or deny the request. Upon accepting the request you will join the channel.

Join channel on invite.  This will automatically join you to a channel upon receiving an /invite from someone else.

Rejoin channel on kick.  You will automatically rejoin the channel if you are kicked from it.

Show icons for events.  This will show you icons for all of the different types of text that you see on IRC.

Show addresses.  This allows you to view addresses of people when they join/part or quit a channel that you are on.

Short Join/Part/Quit.  This will override Show addresses.

Example 5.3. Short Join/Part/Quit

Joins: [SQ]werl

Autocomplete Text.  This will auto complete anything that you have typed before.

Autocomplete Commands.  This will only auto complete commands.

Warning

This could be a security issue. Please use with caution.

Show topic in channel.  This will tell you the topic along with the other channel information when you join the channel, if it is activated. If it is not activated, the only thing regarding the topic, will be who set it and at what time it was set.

Limit Buffer.  This controls the amount of text that is saved on the channel before deleting it. You can increase this if you like, but it could affect the responsiveness of savIRC.

Nick Completion.  This allows you to type the first few characters of a nickname then press the tab key, which will then cycle through the nicknames (if applicable). You can also configure what you want the output to be. For instance, say that you are on an extremely busy channel, and you want to tell the user UneekNick something. If you just type it out without specifying a nickname, anyone could think that you are talking to them. savIRC allows you to configure how you want it to be formatted.

Example 5.4. Nick Completion

UneekNick : Hello there, are you new?

The colon between UneekNick and the sentence, is how the default format works. If you wanted the colon to be right up against the nickname, you would change %nick : to %nick: This allows you to get a bit creative, and if you like to develop themes, it gives you one more option that you can customize.

Highlight nick in channel.  This will highlight you nickname, every time someone types it. You can customize what color it is by clicking on the eye-dropper icon.

Send Splitter.  What this does, is limit how much text you can send over IRC at any given time. The range is from 400 to 460 characters. The default is 430 characters.

New in 2.2

savIRC now does not have a hard limit. The splitter remains to let you know that your are nearing your threshold before savIRC automatically splits your message. This is so that you will not flood the channel/query/chat, and you will not flood yourself off the IRC server.
