For most people the default will be fine, although savIRC does provide options to configure it the way that you want it to act. I think most of the options are self explanatory, with the exception of the option to “Use Fserve menu in chats” and “passive dcc receive”.
Use Fserve menu in chats. This allows you to connect to an Fserve, type ls or dir, then you highlight one of the directories or files that show up. A menu will popup which contains:
The way that the CD/LS Selected commands work is that it combines both the cd and ls command together. So that you'll change into that directory and list its contents, all in one click.
Passive DCC receive. If you are behind a firewall, enable this, and it will allow you to send and receive dcc transfers normally. Be warned though, if you and the person who you are sending/receiving a dcc transfer/chat from are both using passive DCC, then the connection will fail. Only one person can be “passive”
