Status Bar

The Status Bar is probably the second most useful thing in savIRC, it contains one menu, and two sections across the bottom of savIRC.

Nick Label.  This holds your currently active nick. This allows you to know what your nickname is on the active server.

If you right-click on it, you will get a menu which will allow you to:

When you are connect to, two or more servers, the network name will appear next to your nickname.

Bytes Per Second (BPS).  If there is no DCC or text input/output going on, it will be 0. Otherwise this feature will tell you how much traffic is being transferred.

0/430.  When typing you will end up running into a cutoff if your paragraph is large. So to help you to determine if you are close to a cutoff, it counts the characters that you have typed and lists the maximum. The number on the left side is the amount of text that you type, the count on the right side is the maximum allowed.

New in 2.2

Everything looks the same, however it acts very differently. 430 is still the cutoff, however you can still type more than the 430. But when you send it to the channel/query/chat windows. savIRC will buffer the text, and only send out a certain amount of text at a time. This also means you can copy/paste a story from the Web and will not get flooded off.

Text Preview.

Whenever you use a color code, bold or underline, the text will show up in the Text Preview section. This is very helpful when you are doing something complex with the color codes; you’ll see an on-the-fly preview of it before sending it.

Multiple Connections.
