Where we are: File > Settings > User Identd
In this window you can specify your nickname and an alternate, just in case your first pick is taken, savIRC will try using your alternate nickname.
You will want to put something into the Real Name entry-field. But, this DOES NOT mean that you must put your Real Name into it. This is a relic of the old IRC days, you must put something here, so be creative. To help prevent getting spammed select the box for Invisible mode. This doesn't really make you invisible; it just keeps your name from being listed when someone runs the command:
/who #someChannel
For the User Id field, put anything you want here, or just leave the default. It doesn't really matter; it just needs to contain something. For the System entry-field, you can leave this at the default. Again this is another relic from the old IRC days. If you don't know what these mean:
Enable Identd Server
Asynchronous Server
Show Identd Requests
Then you probably don't need them, but if you do, I will talk about them in the upcoming sections. So go ahead and leave these at the default.
Now that you've configured the mandatory settings, click Server in the tree menu to the left. Here you will find a server and network to connect too.
