savIRC offers the ability to change many settings without getting too complex. From changing the fonts of queries, to changing the fonts of buttons. savIRC also allows you to change the gradient colors on the scrollbars.

Right now we'll just go over the basics. It is just enough information to install savIRC and connect to an IRC Server.

The defaults are perfectly fine for basic use. After awhile you may want to tinker and change some settings. There are not many requirements, however you must enter a nickname of your choice. This is a time for creativity because most nicknames are already taken. Which is one reason why savIRC asks you to provide an alternate one, just in case your primary choice was already taken.
